Strong aromatic red wine from the Vinyes Domènech winery from Montsant in Catalonia, approx. 150 km west of Barcelona: {
The Furvus is ripe and complex, with aromas of wild herbs and black berries. It is full-bodied and mineral, with a fine acid and tannin structure and a sustainable departure.
Furvus 2021 fits perfectly with dishes that are prepared with fragrant Mediterranean herbs such as thyme, rosemary and laurel, such as fried lamb or veal or hearty vegetable or bean stews.
The grapes for the Furvus come from a parcel with 40 -year -old vines . There Garnaxta Peluda (the "hairy" garnatxa) and a little Merlot is grown according to biodynamic rules.
For the Furvus 2021, the grapes were harvested in October by hand and immediately brought to the winery in 15kg boxes, where they were sorted again so that only the healthy grapes are processed. They are ground without tip. The maceration (the must is on the mash) in stainless steel tanks takes 20 days to pull flavors and flavorings out of the grapes. The fermentation with natural yeast is spontaneous. After completing the fermentation, the wine was expanded in French 500l oak barrels for 12 months before it was pulled to bottles.
The Furvus shows a deep ruby red color in the glass with a violet edge. Flow into the nose fruit aromas of blueberries and black currants, with notes of wild herbs and balsamic vinegar. In the mouth, the wine is round and spacious, with minerality , a fine acid structure and tires, well integrated tannins. The departure is very long and sustainable.
