Raso de Larrainzar Barrica

The pago de larrainzar is a vineyard, surrounded by a wall and divided into 10 individual parcels. The plots differ in the composition and structure of the soil north . In principle, this consists of a location calcareous sand over grown limestone, which gradually becomes lower in the north. Above that is a mixture of sound, sand and gravel , which was rinsed over millions of millions by erosion from the neighboring hilly landscape, as well as the humus , which has formed by careful care of the soil.

The year 2018 started with a wet winter and spring , which also passed into a rainy summer r. The winemakers had to deal with plenty of fungal diseases. Due to the rain, it was also necessary to slow down the vines for the vines to reach the desired maturity and concentration. Fortunately, the August and September were warm, sunny and dry, so that the grapes in the end were splendidly gripped .

The harvested by hand in the first few weeks of October 2018, the grapes are quickly brought to the wine cellar next to the vineyard. There they were carefully and gently ground and, depending on the variety, for 24-48 hours, to increase the extraction of color and aroma substances. Each grape variety was fermented separately at 24 ° to 28 ° C in stainless steel tanks. After the biological acid breakdown, the new wines were clarified with vegetable means and slightly filtered, after which they matured in used barrels from French oak depending on the variety . After composing the cuvée and almost a year in stainless steel tanks, the wine was filled in bottles in December 2019.
