The alges are a strong, fruity structured red wine aromas of violets and red fruits. You also discover notes of cherries, boiled fruits, liquorice and an elegant wooden tone. It is concentrated and character on the palate, with subtle balance between fruit, oak and acidity. The Alges of Clos Pons is ideally suited as a companion to tapas, strong cheese and grilled meat, especially for lamb dishes of all kinds.
The vines for the alges grow in a Mediterranean climate, the grapes are biodegraded and the wine is biologically certified. The temperatures on site fluctuate between 42 ° C in summer and -8 ° C in winter, during the day there are temperature differences up to 25 ° C. The vines are now over 25 years old and grow on American rootsticks in the lime -containing clay. They are planned on terraced north and north-west slopes, the plant density is approx. 3,500 vines / ha. 2017 provided a low yield but the grapes were of very high quality, so that it ultimately resulted in wines with concentration, structure, freshness and minerality.
The grapes were read and selected by hand depending on the grape variety. The must fermented according to grape variety at 25 ° C for 15 days on the mash. We even fermented a small proportion of the must for 20 days. After a gentle press in a pneumatic press, all wines are stored in French and American 300-liter oic barrels for 12 months before the cuvée is determined and the wine is filled.
